New addition

For the 4th of July, we were up at Eric's house having a barbecue with the neighbors.  Serin and I were picking berries when I heard a pitiful little meow.  Then, in the brush pile (one of many actually, but that's another story) I found this tiny little scrap of skinny kittenness.

It seems we have a new cat.  Met Mirabel
She was so very skinny, only weighing 4 lbs.  But she is a little love and seems to have joined our household with relatively little fuss.  Des hates her, but the feeling is mutual and avoidance seems to be the strategy.  She and Gus are warming up to each other, and we are hopeful that Gus may get the cuddle buddy he so wants.

Moses Lake Trip

Last weekend we went to Moses Lake to hang out with Eric's grandmother.  Then, we went camping.  I only remembered the camera once we were camping, sorry.

Here's Soda Lake, where we camped and got eaten alive by mosquitos

There were thunderstorms looming, the desert is spectacular when it's about to rain

The whole area there is full of little pothole lakes and ponds.  Amazing to crest a hill and see all the green after the sage and tan

I love the drama of this picture
 and a rainbow
The next day we went hiking at Dry Falls.  It's a horseshoe canyon created when the glacial dam broke .  So spectacular canyon, and no river

Eric and I.  Like my goofy hat?
 A fun lily
 Rin being doofusy cute
 Pretty willow

Strawberry picking with my girls

Oregon Strawberries are the best of course.  This month, Katherine and I met a couple of times to take the girls picking.
Alexandria being adorable after one hard day of gorging
and being helpful the next time
 Happy strawberry faces

moving into summer

So many raspberries!
and the blackberries I was afraid I had stripped in my attempt to save them are going nuts
Isn't this pretty?  It's the ceiling of the screened in porch
And the deck is up
The mantle too, with the masonry started

Nope, not planning on joining the circus

After Cirque du Soleil came to town, Serin decided to take a silks class in Portland.   I joined her today just for kicks

I have to say, it was really fun.  Some of the things obviously harder than they look, but also... some of them are actually easier than you might expect.  We shall see how I feel tomorrow though.  :)
