The drive south through South Africa was beautiful, but ever so slightly disappointing.

It was wildflower season, and we were in world famous wildflower country

But, alas, while the rocks were lovely, there were very few flowers to be had

bad rains the year before presumably

In good years, this little beauty carpets the ground as far as the eye can see

It must be beautiful

Well, I still enjoyed the mountains

This little church was quite picturesque as we drove by

A lot of the land we drove through was non irrigated grain fields. They alternate strips of native vegetation with the crop, to provide extra sheep fodder in the off season, and provide a windbreak

Pretty rocks

Jimmy was so meticulous about cleaning his bus, a fact that we all appreciated to be sure. but when he started cleaning while driving... well that's when I began to be afraid.
