Brynn's Wedding

Brynn got married a few weeks ago and I was lucky enough to join them for their beautiful day.
It was a wonderfully elegant wedding, with handsome boys escorting you to your seat, Brynn in her lovely lace gown, Zach looking nervous and handsome up front waiting.
Most of my pictures didn't turn out, but I still liked these, even if they aren't perfect.
Triumphant entrance to the reception

This might be the maid of honor and the best man, or maybe just a sweet pairing of bridesmaid and groomsman... but I liked it.
We finally meet Zach!
Isn't Brynn lovely?

Jenise, Emily and I
Cutting the cake. Brynn's grandmother made it, and it was good! Funfetti!
They managed to only make small messes of each other, and made up very sweetly
oh, hmm.. well... they sure look happy, don't they?
It was a very beautiful spot for a reception. An island in the middle of the delta, sun setting, table cloths billowing...
They snuck off for some sunset pics.
Happy happy day
And finally, the tossing of the bouquet. look at it go! Actually, Brynn was a little too enthusiastic, tossed it over the straining hands of the single girls and into the surprised arms of her happily married mother. The retoss went predictably well though, so all's well.

It was such a lovely day, and I'm so happy for the two of them!

Beautiful Brynn

Brynn came back to visit us today. The 4 of us went out to lunch at our favorite sushi place. She is starting grad school in Moss Landing in a few days. We will miss her at the lab, but alas...
Brynn and Jenise had fun comparing rings (remarkably similar!) since both are recently engaged. Ahhhh, lovely ladies.

My labmates

Meet my blonde buddies, the cool girls I work with. From left to right, Emily, Brynn, and Jenise. Brynn has actually left us recently for more California focused work, and we miss her so... but she came back for a visit today!

Life's looking up

I got a new foster dog this weekend. This is Jake. He's about 4 or 5 and a total cuddle bug. His favorite thing to do is sit on your feet and breathe his nasty breath into your face. Cute huh? He is mixed with something, it doesn't show too much, he just looks like a very fluffy lab. Very fluffy. Then Brynn, our old labmate/student came to visit me. We got some lunch and went to the park to eat it and play with the dog. Only in California, no?

Im home!!!

Well, I made it home. All limbs intact and sanity still hanging in there. Here are some of the wonderful things about being home:
My fat little brat cat!
My garden, though, my god do I have some work ahead of me there!

Being able to throw toilet paper in the toilet! As trivial as that may seem, it really matters.
My Kitchen!!!!!!! In addition to the simple matter of trusting the food not to give my stomach desperate battles to fight, I just plain missed creating food. The first thing I did was make a batch of cookies, crazy I know.
Not having to worry whether the grocery store checkout kid is going to ask you an incomprehensible question.
No more 20 hour bus rides!
My bed, my very own bed.
My bike.
Not having to carry around 45 kg of junk on my back!!!!!
More than 2 pairs of pants and 3 t-shirts!!! Variety is very good.
My books, even if I dont have time to read them, they are there.
My lovely lab mates
Jenise
EmilyBrynn and Joel are around someplace, just not giving me pics quite yet.
And, as much as I may be cynical about the state of California, and Davis in particular, this place is LOVELY during the springtime. The air is thick with the scent of flowers, the sun is out (but not scorchingly hot quite yet), and everything is lush and green!
Ah, sigh, isnt it nice to be home?
