Český Krumlov

The town of Český Krumlov is a very picturesque little place. It is named because of the crazy meandering of the river that winds through town 2 or 3 times (krumlov means something like crazy circle in old german). But, the castle on the hill is really what captures your eye (unless you are crazy like me and love the silly red roofs).
This is the back side of the castle, but it was actually my favorite part.
The front side was much fancier and ornate, with crazy colors (up close) and fancy buildings.
The river was very full.
We bundled the little one up in about 20 layers and went for a little walking tour.
Easter is coming. These little exquisitely painted eggs are a traditional Czech thing.
Some of the interesting buildings in town

An apothecary shop
Fancy sun dial
A view of town from the bridge you can see in the very first picture.
Hugo slept most of the morning, snug in his little carrier, but eventually he got bored. So, I brought him out for a better view. Hard to hold a kid on your shoulders when he has a bazillion layers on though, he can't stay balanced due to all the cloth in his way!
Looking back on the castle.
When you head up to the castle from town, you have to go up this tunnel.
This 5 petaled rose is the motif of the family that used to control this area.
And, finally, I will leave you with some pictures of the town from the top of it all. Too bad the sun was in the wrong direction for this, but you get the idea.
