After the monastery, we bundled Mr. Hugo up and put him in his new carrier for a hike to another castle. this one in ruins.
This is the Dívči Kámen castle ruins (translates to maiden rock for the cliffs surrounding the place)
These flowers were just starting to come out, but I was told that they cover the entire grounds in spring. It was a lot of hiking about on crumbling stairways and patchy cobblestone
After exploring the castle, we followed the stream to the Vltava river.

They tunneled through the mountain here, bringing water from the stream to the forge to drive the hammer. While the smithy is no longer operational, the water still comes through, and you can feel the ground shaking from the force of it.
If you look closely on this picture, you can see where they marked the flood levels for the different years. And yes, that does say 1848.
